Origine by DIAM Cork FAQ

What is Origine by DIAM?

Origine by DIAM® is the latest addition to the DIAM closure range. It is a natural cork made up of three essential natural materials: cork, vegetable binder and beeswax. The binding agent is composed of 100% polyol derived from renewable resources. The beeswax used is 100% natural and makes the corks totally watertight, protecting the wine against any capillary migration and protecting the integrity of the cork elasticity.

What types of corks are available in Origine by DIAM?

Origine by DIAM current offerings are available in DIAM 10 and DIAM 30 for still wine. Origine by DIAM corks carry the same guarantee “no cork TCA” as the classic DIAM range.

What is the Oxygen Transmission Rate available for Origine by DIAM?

The OTR ratio is 0.15 (Low).

Will Origine by DIAM be offered in other range in addition to DIAM 10 and DIAM 30? If so, when?

Yes, it will soon be extended to include other products in the same brand for still wine and sparkling wines.

Is Origine by DIAM guaranteed no TCA as the current DIAM range?

Yes, our Diamant process guarantees no detectable TCA in each cork.

Is Origine by DIAM biodegradable, recyclable?

Natural corks are not biodegradable. On the contrary, they are used for their capacity to age in contact with the wine for many years and not degrade.

Origine by DIAM and the whole DIAM range are recyclable just like any other technical cork. Contact us for more details.

Where do we source the beeswax from?

The beeswax is currently sourced from Europe.

What are the differences between Origine by DIAM versus the Standard DIAM Closure?

What coating is used?

The coating being used is a mix of paraffin and silicone.

Is it the same QC process?

Yes, The QC process is the same as our regular DIAM cork.
